Caravaca de la Cruz, Spain: Construction to Start on Five Megawatt Solar Tracking Plant
A five Megawatts solar tracking PV plant will be installed soon in Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia in south eastern Spain. The new PV plant will encompass a total surface of 350,000 m2 and will incorporate five hundred two-axis solar trackers that will follow the sun from sunrise to sunset.
Each tracker will have 10 KWp and a surface of 75 m2, the total modules surface will be 37,500 m2. To mimimize losses, one 3 phases central inverter will be installed per tracker, all of them will be connected to a RS-485 net.
The design of the trackers and plant layout has been optimized to achieve a 40% - 45% energy increase compared with a fixed module classical PV plant, the yearly energy produced will be over 10 GW.H, i.e. more than 2,000 KW.H per KWp installed.
