Joseph Hargett asks: Is Solar Power Stock Bubble Looming for 2008?

We are about 2 full trading days away from the end of 2007, and technology stocks are looking for a strong finish, despite today's malaise sweeping the Street. The tech-laden Nasdaq Composite (COMP) is set to easily outpace its Wall Street brethren on the year, resting at a gain of nearly 12% at last check, compared to the Dow's gain of 7.6% and the S&P 500 Index's (SPX) rise of 4.6%. Still, the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLK: View sentiment for XLKsentiment, chart, options) has bested even the mighty COMP on a year-to-date basis, adding a hefty 16.5% since January 2007.
Looking at a long-term trend for the XLK, some key levels to watch for 2008 emerge. First, support at the 26 level should remain rather important for the trust, as it is not only home to former support/resistance, bit it also houses the exchange-traded fund's (ETF) 10-month moving average - which the XLK has not closed a month below since July 2006. As long as the trust utilizes these regions for support and buoyancy, it should continue to advance well into 2008.
The second point of interest is the hard level of potential overhead resistance for the XLK at the round-number 30 level. When the trust last encountered this region in April 2001, the XLK was soundly rejected; however, economic and global issues were different at the time (think dot-com bubble). Still, this region could pose quite a problem for the trust, and it could take more than just the meandering higher that the XLK has done recently to top this level. On the other hand, a solid breach of the 30 region could definitely be a bullish indicator for the XLK in 2008.

AES Corp (AES) to buy 52 large 3 megawatt turbines from Vestas (VWSYF)
STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Vestas Winds Systems A/S (VWSYF) Thursday said it has received an order from the AES Corporation (AES) for delivery of 52 units of the V90-3.0 MW wind turbine.
It said the contract includes delivery, installation and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a five-year service and maintenance agreement.
Delivery is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2008, and the project will be completed by the end of 2009.
Vestas said AES one of the world's largest global power companies. AES entered the wind generation business in 2004, and Thursday operates 1,000 MW of wind projects and has 4,000 MW of wind projects in various stages of development worldwide.
"We are proud that AES has chosen Vestas as its partner for this large wind energy project, and we look forward to continuing our fruitful cooperation with them," said Hans Joern Rieks, President of Vestas Central Europe A/S. It said the above order doesn't affect the Vestas Group's expectations for 2007 and 2008.

TAYBEH, West Bank–The concert commenced at 7 sharp, here in the last entirely Christian community in the Holy Land, an illuminated rosary of limestone houses and Christmas lights strung across the high Samarian Hills, 20 kilometres northeast of Jerusalem.
Lit by a bevy of crystal chandeliers, classically trained musicians gathered in the town's Latin Patriarchal Church, flanked by an altar, a glowing electric space heater and an audience of about 60 expectant souls.
After being warmly welcomed by David Khoury, mayor of Taybeh – who speaks English with a Massachusetts accent, the result of 30 years in political exile – the players raised their instruments, traded glances, then plunged into the initial offering on the evening's baroque program, the allegro first movement of Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto in F-major for Flute and Orchestra.
And, lo, it was Christmas time in the Holy Land. The spirit of the season seemed to radiate through the church and into the streets beyond, for Christmas without music wouldn't really be Christmas at all.
"We are the last and only entirely Christian village in the Holy Land," proclaimed Father Raed Abusahlia, parish priest at Latin Patriarchal, speaking shortly before the concert began.
"We were evangelized by Jesus Christ Himself."
Partly for that reason, an unlikely group of fine musicians – including Christians, Jews and Muslims – ventured through the darkness and winter cold last Wednesday to converge on this hilltop town to perform a Christmas concert of baroque music against a backdrop of sadness and war – sadness because Christians are fleeing the Holy Land in disturbing numbers and war because this is the Middle East, where armed conflict seems as deeply embedded in the rocky soil as olive trees, religion and tombs.
But on this night there was song, and it was song that brought a Canadian visitor here, on a winding, starlit drive through deep canyons and over lofty ridges, past an Israeli military checkpoint and into Taybeh, an ancient community where Jesus once sought refuge from his enemies.
In biblical times, the town was Ephraim. It was renamed Taybeh in 1187 by Salahaddin, the legendary Kurdish warrior who once captured Jerusalem from the Crusaders.
Taybeh was inhabited by Christians then and it is inhabited by Christians now, although their numbers are dwindling.
During the 1960s, Taybeh's population reached a high of about 3,400. It has since declined to 1,300 or so, and it continues to fall.
"There is not enough work, not enough money," said Norma Jasser, an elegant, 40-something mother of six who attended the concert with her brood.
"If anyone has the chance to leave, they will do it."
Palestinian Christians face the same trials that afflict the territories' Muslim majority – the economic hardship, political instability and reciprocal violence that are the wages of a 60-year conflict with neighbouring Israel.
And so the Christians leave.
But now it is Christmas time and Christians are celebrating in Taybeh and in many other towns scattered through the Holy Land.
This winter, for the third year in a row, many of them have been blessed by the gift of music, thanks to an ambitious series of concerts organized by a 28-year-old Palestinian musician named Ramzi Aburedwan.
Founder of a charitable Palestinian society – called Al-Kamandjati, which is Arabic for The Violinist – Aburedwan oversees a philanthropic program that provides musical instruments and training to hundreds of Palestinian children.
Three years ago, he launched a Christmas series of baroque concerts that swelled this year to nine scheduled performances – most of them presented in Christian churches, seven in the Palestinian territories and two in Israel.
The players include Palestinians, Europeans and Americans. They are Muslims, Jews and Christians.
Their surnames range from Machour to Ho, Nguenang to Barghouti, Karamintzas to Hewitt Jones – a thoroughly catholic group, in the secular sense of the word.
Financial and logistical support was provided by bodies that include the general consulate of France in Jerusalem, the Goethe-Institut in Ramallah and the Barenboim-Said Foundation, established by famed conductor Daniel Barenboim and the late Palestinian intellectual Edward Said.
But this is the Middle East, where political tensions intrude upon everything.
Not even the music of baroque composers Vivaldi, Georg Philip Telemann or Giovanni Battista Pergolesi are immune – and nor is the violist Aburedwan.
Last Sunday, he was stopped at Erez Crossing by Israeli border officials, who refused to let him travel from Israel into the Gaza Strip for a Christmas concert there, saying he lacked the proper documents.
Meanwhile, a dozen musicians accompanying him – all Palestinians in this case – were cleared for the same trip.
Aburedwan was later detained for two hours at the Israeli police station in the nearby town of Sderot before being released, but he was still not allowed into Gaza.
In protest, Aburedwan's fellow musicians refused to carry on without him; the concert scheduled for that evening at the Latin Church in Gaza City had to be cancelled.
"The Israelis said I was illegal," Aburedwan later said. "It's discriminatory, racist. They cut people off from people."
An accomplished violist, Aburedwan had recovered much of his composure and all of his artistry for the 90-minute concert in Taybeh.
The audience that night included a trio of nuns in blue habits and white wimples, as well as a cross-section of the village's population, mostly bundled into heavy winter coats and scarves against the chill bite of winter in the West Bank.
Built in 1968, the modern church boasts an airy interior, featuring a huge mosaic that depicts Jesus arriving in Ephraim, as well as vivid paintings of St. George slaying the dragon and a winged St. Michael in combat with Satan.
At the end of the concert, the audience rose to its feet and demanded an encore.
Abusahlia pleaded with the players to repeat the final piece of music in the evening's program – the rousing rondeau from the Ariane and Bachus Suite by Marin Marais.
The players obliged, and later several of the string players performed an impromptu outdoor program of familiar Christmas carols, performing on the stone stairs at the church's entrance, beneath the moonlight and a silent chorus of stars.
Later still, the audience members and musicians gathered for drinks and Arab finger food at a reception room in the presbytery, its interior decorated in the style of a Bedouin tent.
"Thank you for making our Christmas holiday joyous," Mayor Khoury told the musicians, summing up the sentiments of all the concertgoers.
"Thank you for everything.
"Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"

1. Alternative Energy News - This web site has always been a favorite of mine when looking for news about alternative and renewable energies. I have had the pleasure of meeting its founder and webmaster Alex Ramon. He’s dedicated and passionate about all things environmental, and lucky for us he started this website a couple of years ago. Incorporating up-to-date videos and well written articles, Alternative Energy recently integrated its sister site, Energy Planet, a renewable energy directory, into the mix. Alex has also created a search engine focusing on the environment. Alternative Energy is, and will continue be, the leader in environment news. This makes Alternative Energy News the best environment website in the world. Congratulations, Alex!
2. PESWiki - This great website focuses on renewable energy solutions, and it is community-built. The “Wiki” phenomenon has not left out the environment as illustrated by PESWiki. Being entirely driven by people who have a zeal for the environment, only the best and most relevant articles and information is presented. At this site, all of us have the opportunity to help increase the awareness of, and to learn about, the environment. Everyone has an opportunity to add their two cents and present information that they feel is vital to saving our planet. About My Planet has done it right and I am a regular visitor.

Geared towards readers interested in green and sustainable businesses, BusinessGreen blog offers its readers a well thought-out perspective in this fast-growing area of the world’s economy.
6. Meet the Greens - This site keeps the kids in mind. Smartly focusing on educating our children in a fun way about the environment, this site is highly interactive. Using animation and other highly visual techniques to keep its readers attention, Meet the Greens is a website for all ages.

Beautifully laid out, like the magazine, their online version is full of stunning pictures. Their writing team is pumping out some top quality articles at the site, adding to its overall appeal. It is obvious that the transition that the magazine made to the current online version was a successful one.
8.Digg - Many people aren’t even aware that Digg has an area at its site devoted entirely to the environment. With thousands of articles in its archives, it is a great tool to browse for your own enjoyment, or to do some serious research.

The one thing in common is that they will be written with my love of our planet in mind.

The criteria was strict and the decision was difficult to make but here they are, the ten best environment websites in the world.
1. Alternative Energy News - This web site has always been a favorite of mine when looking for news about alternative and renewable energies. I have had the pleasure of meeting its founder and webmaster Alex Ramon. He’s dedicated and passionate about all things environmental, and lucky for us he started this website a couple of years ago. Incorporating up-to-date videos and well written articles, Alternative Energy recently integrated its sister site, Energy Planet, a renewable energy directory, into the mix. Alex has also created a search engine focusing on the environment. Alternative Energy is, and will continue be, the leader in environment news. This makes Alternative Energy News the best environment website in the world. Congratulations, Alex!
2. PESWiki - This great website focuses on renewable energy solutions, and it is community-built. The “Wiki” phenomenon has not left out the environment as illustrated by PESWiki. Being entirely driven by people who have a zeal for the environment, only the best and most relevant articles and information is presented. At this site, all of us have the opportunity to help increase the awareness of, and to learn about, the environment. Everyone has an opportunity to add their two cents and present information that they feel is vital to saving our planet. This is a site that is growing at a very fast pace and in my opinion they have only scratched the surface as to what it can offer, and what it could mean to the environmental community.

LDK to supply Q-Cells with polysilicon solar wafers in 10-year deal
NEW YORK — Solar energy product maker LDK Solar Co. said Monday December 10/07 it has entered a 10-year contract with Q-Cells AG, which will make prepayments to finance LDK's expansion.
LDK will deliver solar wafers with more than 6 gigawatts of annual generating capacity to Q-Cells from 2009 through 2018. LDK will use supplies from its polysilicon plant that is currently under construction, or other sources.
In return, Q-Cells will prepay 10 percent of the silicon value to fund LDK's expansion. The German solar-cell maker also has the option to purchase 30 percent of LDK's production if LDK expands its wafer capacity. The companies did not provide a specific sum of the prepayment.
A one-megawatt plant running continuously at full capacity can power 778 households each year, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. One gigawatt is equal to 1,000 megawatts. Solar technology has lower capacity since its ability to generate power is constrained by availability of the sun.
Annual deliveries will start with 1,000 metric tons in 2009 and rise to 5,000 metric tons by 2013. Pricing of the wafers is partly fixed and partly market-related for 2009 and 2010. Pricing will then be adjusted to market conditions.
Q-Cells said the agreement will allow it to grow more rapidly from 2009 than previously planned.

Americans for Peace Now urged President Bush to open serious, determined and unconditional diplomacy with Iran. In a letter to the U.S. president Tuesday, the group's chair, Franklin Fisher, and president and CEO, Debra DeLee, said the recent publication of the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran "bolsters our conviction that the best interests of both the U.S. and Israel require direct, sustained, and unconditional U.S.-led diplomacy and engagement with Iran to resolve issues surrounding Iran�s nuclear program."
The letter urged Bush to view the intelligence report "as an opportunity to shift course, and to demonstrate the kind of real leadership and diplomacy necessary to deal effectively and responsibly with the challenge posed today by Iran."
Copies of the letter will be sent to all members of Congress and major presidential candidates.
The letter reflects Americans for Peace Now's longstanding contention that a U.S. policy toward Iran consisting of sanctions and threats of force is insufficient and potentially harmful to the interests of both the United States and Israel.

As it turns out, several of these geothermal stocks have been steaming in terms of stock price.
Here is the list:
Calpine Corporation (CPNLQ.PK), was founded in 1984. This San Jose-based company provides electricity in the United States, and Canada through the ownership, and operation of its own power generation plants. It owns 19 geothermal power plants at The Geysers in California. Its earnings have been negative, but revenues were up about 27% for the latest quarter.
Constellation Energy Group (CEG), was founded in 1906. This electrical generating company owns, and operates generating plants and fuel processing facilities utilizing various types of fuel including nuclear, coal, natural gas, oil, solar, geothermal, hydro and biomass. It has a P/E of 15.8, and a PEG of 1.43. Its yield is 2%.
IdaCorp, Inc. (IDA), is the holding company that owns the Idaho Power Company, which is involved in the generation, transmission, distribution, and sale of electric energy primarily in southern Idaho, and eastern Oregon. Its electrical generation comes from hydroelectric, natural gas, diesel, coal, and geothermal plants. It has a P/E of 12.6, and a PEG of2.92. It has a yield of 3.8%.
Nevada Geothermal Power, Inc. [NGLPF.OB], explores for, and develops geothermal projects in the United States to provide electricity. It owns a 100% leasehold interest in the Blue Mountain, Pumpernickel, and Black Warrior projects in Nevada, and the Crump Geyser Project, in southern Oregon.
Ormat Technologies Inc. (ORA), is a Nevada-based company, that was founded in 1965, and trades on the New York Stock Exchange. It owns, and operates geothermal power plants, that sell electricity in the United States, Guatemala, Kenya, Nicaragua, and the Philippines. It also provides products, and services to other geothermal power generators. It has a P/E of 70.2, a PEG of 2.67, and a yield of 0.5%.
PG&E Corp. (PCG), is a California-based electric, and gas utility which serves 5 million customers. Its electrical generation comes from natural gas, nuclear, hydro, coal, geothermal, wind, and several other types of renewable sources. It has a P/E of 15.6, and a PEG of 2.08. Its yield is 3.2%.
Polaris Geothermal (PGTHF.PK), is a developer of renewable energy in Latin America. It is currently developing a 66 MW geothermal project on its San Jacinto Tizate concession in Nicaragua.
Raser Technologies (RZ), is a Utah-based company that was founded in 2003, and trades on the New York Stock Exchange. It develops high performance electric motor, and controller technology. In addition, it has secured geothermal rights to certain Nevada properties owned by Truckee River Ranches, LLC, under the terms of a 50-year lease agreement. Its earnings have been negative.

How to have a Green Christmas? Reuse, buy local to enjoy ecological holidays

TORONTO - Forget the forecast and those archetypal visions of winter white: from decor to dinner, many preparing for the holidays have thoughts of green on the brain.
While the season often marks a period of excess rather than eco-consciousness, experts say celebrating the holidays complete with tree trimming, gift giving and a prime-time feast that is also eco-friendly is well within reach.
The following are some of their suggestions on how to turn dreams of going green into reality.
GIFT GIVING: Buy locally and/or handmade items. After years of selling her work at craft fairs, Christi York decided to create a designated event to sell stylish and sustainable wares.
Heading into its second year, Vancouver's Green Christmas Market will feature more than a dozen vendors selling handcrafted items made out of recycled or vintage materials. Fashion designers at the event will showcase works that comprise eco-conscious materials including bamboo and soy fabrics.
"I just wanted to provide people with a totally guilt-free, no brainer shopping experience," said York, a freelance graphic designer, whose works include reworked vintage jewelry.
"If you're already going out to craft fairs and buying locally, you're halfway to a green Christmas already," she added. "The fact that all of our items are sustainable in that way is just sort of a bonus.
If you want to tackle making your own gift, try crafting a calendar or recipe book, said Coral Maloney, project co-ordinator of the Living Green, Living Well initiative with Resource Conservation Manitoba.
Provide experiences rather than more "stuff." Stephen Hazell, executive director of the Sierra Club of Canada, suggests purchasing tickets to a hockey game or concert, or gift certificates for a nice meal on the town.
"They're things that people really appreciate and will use but might not do on their own."
If those options are too expensive, search for more cost-effective alternatives like minor league hockey tickets, he said.
Try to ensure if you're going to buy gifts that they will be put to good use, he added.
"There are a lot of throwaway sort of joke gifts that are really all they're good for is Christmas morning and then they're gone."
Another option is to give a gift of charity like a donation to an organization important to the recipient, said Maloney.
If cost is an issue, choose an organization where you might like to volunteer your services, she said.
If you have a large family, draw names out of a hat or pool together to buy a gift to pare down the shopping list, said Peter Blanchard, founder and co-ordinator of the website www.planetfriendly.net.
WRAP IT UP: Most wrapping paper can't be recycled since it's often blended with other materials like wax and metal, meaning it will end up in a landfill, Maloney said.
Use gift bags or wrap the item in a tea towel - both items can be reused, she added.
On its website, Resource Conservation Manitoba also suggests decorating plain paper bags with holiday themes and converting old holiday cards into gift tags.
Hazell recommends newspaper to wrap gifts - use the colourful comic pages for the kids.
TACKLING THE TREE: "Probably the most eco-friendly option is to get a plant like a Norfolk pine or a fig or something like that that you've got in your house year-round and just use as your Christmas tree when the season comes around," Hazell said.

Wind from Atlantic and Sun from Africa and Middle East could power a cleaner Europe

Now this is very positive. Last week there was talk of a giant ’supergrid’ connecting much of Europe to wind turbines across the continent, to take advantage of whenever the wind was blowing.
Now the Guardian reports on Desertec, the plans to put hundreds of solar concentrating plants on the North African coasts and in the Middle East. Two thirds of the estimated 100 Billion Watts would stay in the countries producing the energy, with another 30 Billion Watts (around of all of Europe’s use) being pumped via underwater cables to the EU, which would provide a chunk of the funding for the project. With the Bali talks now underway to find a new version of the Kyoto treaty, projects like this could be a major facet of reducing carbon emissions. German energy expert Gregor Czeich reckons with new higher efficiency power lines a 100% renewable powered Europe could be possible in the near future without costing much more than the current fossil fuel system.

The power generated by the system exceeds the power used at night to illuminate the billboard's lights. In addition to installing solar, PG&E replaced the billboard's halophane light fixtures with energy-efficient LED lights.

In December 2006, Brad Pitt convened a group of experts in New Orleans to brainstorm about building green affordable housing on a large scale to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Having spent time with community leaders and displaced residents determined to return home, Pitt realized that an opportunity existed to build houses that were not only stronger and healthier, but that had less impact on the environment.
Previously, Pitt sponsored an architecture competition organized by Global Green with the goal of generating ideas about how to rebuild sustainably. Several of those designs are currently under construction in the Lower 9th Ward and the project inspired him to expand his efforts.
After discussing the hurdles associated with rebuilding in a devastated area, the group determined that a large-scale redevelopment project focused on green affordable housing and incorporating innovative design was indeed possible.
The group settled on the goal of constructing 150 homes (one of the larger rebuilding projects in the city), with an emphasis on developing an affordable system that could be replicated.
To demonstrate replicability, Pitt determined to locate the project in the Lower 9th Ward, one of the most devastated areas of New Orleans, proving that safe homes could and should be rebuilt. Pitt hopes that this project would be a catalyst for recovery and redevelopment throughout the Lower 9th Ward and across the city of New Orleans.
Having listened to one former resident's plea to help "make this right," Pitt was inspired to name the project "Make It Right" (MIR).

PITT: Yes. Thanks for having me and having all of us here.
KING: How did you get this -- first of all, why did you come to New Orleans in the first place?
PITT: I just always had a love for this place. I mean it's really like no other city we have. It's got its own unique vitality and it's the home of Mardi Gras and -- I mean, where else can you do something as silly as this and people really enjoy it?
KING: And we're going to talk about that.
PITT: It's great for (INAUDIBLE).
KING: But I mean did you come here before Katrina?
PITT: Yes. I've been here since -- coming here since '94. I came here then for a film. But I lived here for about three months and really fell in love with the place. And it's been a nice home for myself and my family.
KING: The people are like no people in America. There's something about the people of New Orleans. I mean...
PITT: They -- I mean, you come here, you'll meet seventh generational families here, people that -- they are not leaving. They love this place and it's very important to them.
KING: So where do you -- you live here?
PITT: Um-hmm.
KING: And...
PITT: We live in a few -- I mean, we're a pretty nomadic family, as you can imagine.
KING: How do you work that?
PITT: But, yes, we have a base here.
KING: How do you work being nomadic in this kind of society?
PITT: We pack up the kids. We've got our system and it's truly a mobile unit. And we plop down here and we can plug into a school here and (INAUDIBLE)...
KING: Then you go to Los Angeles (INAUDIBLE)?
PITT: Los Angeles -- we're there right now for a month here while Angie is working. And then we'll be back through here and...
KING: Does the film dictate where you live?
PITT: A little bit.
KING: So where -- what are you going to do...
PITT: The film or whatever we're focusing on, yes.
KING: All right, so you came here out of a love for New Orleans not...
PITT: Right.
KING: So now Katrina happens.
PITT: Right.
KING: Then what?
How soon after that did you come?
PITT: A few months after. I was out filming "Jesse James" in Calgary when the storm hit. And it was talking to people at the first Clinton Global Initiative -- we were talking about the lack of -- or the help that was needed with the rebuilding effort. And I knew -- I know a little bit about building. And I certainly know people who know a lot about building. And could we start putting these people together, and, you know, help the good folks here get -- you know, rebuild their communities.
KING: So you wanted to get involved from the start?
PITT: Yes.
KING: OK. So, first of all, isn't it a blight on somebody -- city, state, federal -- that this Ninth Ward ain't any better?
PITT: Well, no question. I mean but it -- you know, the Ninth Ward has got a lot of attention. And we're starting here because it seems to have the least -- or the most difficulty of coming back. But this is -- this is everywhere. You -- to see the extent of the damage and the extent of the people -- the extent of the lack of movement is -- I mean, this goes on for parish after parish after parish.
We're hoping we can take -- start here as a nucleus, but we can keep expanding on this throughout New Orleans and the Gulf Coast itself.

Brad Pitt building green homes in New Orleans - CNN report
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- Expanding on a promise he made nearly two months ago, actor Brad Pitt said Monday he expects to have families in 150 newly created homes in New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward by the end of next summer -- but he asked for help to make the dream a reality.
"To build those 150 homes, we need the help of the American people," he said in a news conference Monday. "We need to all join together to do this. There is no reason why we can't do a thousand homes."
Pitt announced in September that he was partnering with film producer Steve Bing to build "affordable and sustainable homes" in the Lower 9th Ward, an area of the city that Hurricane Katrina devastated in 2005. Pitt and Bing have also each pledged $5 million to the rebuilding project.
The 150 eco-friendly homes mark the first initiative of Pitt's "Make it Right" project, aimed at redeveloping the Lower 9th Ward.

Brad Pitt has been able to bring serious innovation to the Lower Ninth Ward -- this cool concept is becoming a serious reality. Thom Mayne of Morphosis in Los Angeles designed a house that would float if the city floods. James Timberlake of KieranTimberlake Associates in Philadelphia created a house with native vines climbing up the side walls to provide shade and coolness. Steven B. Bingler of Concordia in New Orleans envisioned a house with wide front steps ideal for a traditional crawfish boil.
Those are three of the designs by 13 architecture firms commissioned by the actor Brad Pitt to help rebuild New Orleans’s impoverished Lower Ninth Ward, one of the neighborhoods hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The project, called Make It Right, calls for building 150 affordable, environmentally sound houses over the next two years. In a telephone interview from New Orleans, where he plans to present the designs today, Mr. Pitt said the residents of the neighborhood had been homeless long enough. “They’re coming up on their third Christmas,” he said.
Mr. Pitt said he had been attached to New Orleans for more than a decade. “I’ve always had a fondness for this place — it’s like no other,” he said. “Seeing the frustration firsthand made me want to return the kindness this city has shown me.”
Rather than bemoan the slow pace of redevelopment in the Ninth Ward, Mr. Pitt said he decided to address the problem directly by teaming with William McDonough, the green design expert; Graft, a Los Angeles architecture firm; and Cherokee, an investment firm based in Raleigh, N.C., that specializes in sustainable redevelopment. John Williams of New Orleans is the executive architect for the project.
“If you have this blank slate and this great technology out there, what better test than low-income housing?” Mr. Pitt said. “It’s got to work at all levels to really be viable.”
When Make It Right was announced at the meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative in September, Mr. Pitt pledged to match $5 million in contributions to the project, as did Steve Bing, the philanthropist. Nine other firms — all of whom donated their services — are involved, including Adjaye Associates; Billes Architecture; BNIM Architects; Constructs; Eskew & Dumez & Ripple; MVRDV; Pugh and Scarpa Architecture; Shigeru Ban Architects; and Trahan Architects. “We wanted to have a mixture of voices,” Mr. Pitt said.

New Delhi : Moser Baer Photo Voltaic (MBPV) Friday signed a pact with the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corp to set up a 15-MW solar power plant in the state.
The company expects to complete the project at an estimated cost of $25 million, according to an official statement.
The pact was signed at the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit 2007, currently underway in Jaipur.
"The MBPV aims to redefine the paradigms of solar power generation through its world-class manufacturing and multi-technology capabilities, and demonstrate a commercially viable, grid-connected photovoltaic energy system in India through this project," said Ravi Khanna, CEO, MBPV.
MBPV is a subsidiary of computer storage media major Moser Baer India.
The company plans to emerge as a leading technology-driven photovoltaic equipment manufacturer in the world by implementing a capacity of 500 MW by 2009-10 through a mix of technologies in the crystalline silicon, concentrator and thin film domain, the company said.

Iran halted its nuclear weapons development program in the fall of 2003 under international pressure but is continuing to enrich uranium, which means it may still be able to develop a weapon between 2010 and 2015, senior intelligence officials said Monday.
That finding, in a new National Intelligence Estimate on Iran, is a change from two years ago, when U.S. intelligence agencies believed Tehran was determined to develop a nuclear capability and was continuing its weapons development program. It suggests that Iran is susceptible to diplomatic pressure, the officials said.
"Tehran's decision to halt its nuclear weapons program suggests it is less determined to develop nuclear weapons than we have been judging since 2005," states the unclassified summary of the secret report, released Monday.
Officials said the new findings suggest that diplomacy has been effective in containing Iran's nuclear ambitions, although President Bush's national security adviser, Stephen Hadley, said the risk of Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon remains " a serious problem."
Thre estimate suggests that Bush "has the right strategy: intensified international pressure along with a willingness to negotiate a solution that serves Iranian interests, while ensuring that the world will never have to face a nuclear armed Iran," Hadley said.
The finding comes at a time of escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, which Bush has labeled part of an "axis of evil," along with Iraq and North Korea. At an Oct. 17 news conference, Bush said "if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them (Iran) from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon."
The halt to active weapons development is one of the key judgments of the latest NIE on Iran's nuclear program. National Intelligence Estimates represent the most authoritative written judgments of all 16 U.S. spy agencies.
Despite the suspension of its weapons program, Tehran may ultimately be difficult to dissuade from developing a nuclear bomb because Iran believes such a weapon would give it leverage to achieve its national security and foreign policy goals, the assessment concluded.
"The bottom line is this: for that strategy to succeed, the international community has to turn up the pressure on Iran with diplomatic isolation, United Nations sanctions, and with other financial pressure and Iran has to decide it wants to negotiate a solution," Hadley said.
Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell decided last month that the key judgments of NIEs should as a rule not be declassified and released. The intelligence officials said an exception was made in this case because the last assessment of Iran's nuclear program in 2005 has been influential in public debate about U.S. policy toward Iran, and needed to be updated to reflect the latest findings.
To develop a nuclear weapon, Iran needs a warhead design, a certain amount of fissile material, and a delivery vehicle such as a missile. The intelligence agencies now believe Iran halted design work four years ago and as of mid-2007 had not restarted it.
But Iran is continuing to enrich uranium for its civilian nuclear reactors. That leaves open the possibility the fissile material could be diverted to covert nuclear sites to make enough highly enriched uranium to make a bomb.
The amount of fissile material Iran has is closely linked to when it can produce a weapon. Even if the country went all out with present enrichment capability, it is unlikely to have enough until 2010 at the earliest, the officials said. The State Department's Intelligence and Research office believes the earliest likely time it would have enough highly enriched uranium would be 2013. But all agencies concede Iran may not have sufficient enriched uranium until after 2015.
Iran would not be capable of technically producing and reprocessing enough plutonium for a weapon before about 2015, the report states. But ultimately it has the technical and industrial capacity to build a bomb, "if it decides to do so," the intelligence agencies found.
This national intelligence estimate was originally due in the spring of 2007 but was delayed because the agencies wanted more confidence their findings were accurate, given the problems with a 2002 intelligence estimate of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program. They also got a late influx of new data that caused changes in their findings.
"There was a very rigorous scrub using all the tradecraft available, using the lessons of 2002," said a senior intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the subject's sensitivity.

He then moved to the University of Toronto to lead several research projects studying the links between environmental stress and violence in developing countries.
Recently, his research has focused on threats to global security in the 21st century and on how societies adapt to complex economic, ecological, and technological change.

The Most Terrifying Video You'll Ever See contains no fake blood, vampires, creepy talking dolls or spooks hiding in television sets. It's a 10-minute lecture on global warming, delivered by a high school science teacher from Oregon, and it has swept the Web, generating millions of hits on multiple sites.
It's low-tech, low-quality and low-budget – Greg Craven, a 38-year-old father of two, shot it himself at his home in Monmouth, Ore., hopped up on Red Bull and Little Caesars pizza.
"It's my midlife crisis and my magnum opus, and my nervous breakdown and my enlightenment experience all rolled into one," he says.
Armed with a black marker and a whiteboard, Craven made an academic argument that went viral after he posted it on YouTube in June, generating nearly 3 million hits on the site. It now ranks among the most popular videos in the news and politics category.
"It's a classic example of how everyday people can help change the world," says Graham Saul, executive director of Climate Action Network Canada.
Craven wants to be the man behind the pebble that starts the landslide that ends in an avalanche change in public opinion, and he's already paid a price to be that man.
After completing his first video, he sifted through 5,000 critical comments to come up with a revised video, called How It All Ends, which links to five hours of explanatory videos.
In them, Craven dons a series of pointy hats and casually sets chemicals on fire in a lab to spice up his discussion, which combines science and risk-management theory to argue that what's needed now is nothing less than a change in public policy to combat global warming.
During the months it took him to produce the package, his wife, Jodi Coleman, 37, took their two girls, ages 2 and 3, to visit relatives for a week at a time, so Craven could work undisturbed.
"I entered this weird haze. My relationship with sleep changed. I would sleep when I could no longer function, and I would sleep for an hour so that I could function again. Then I'd get back up," says Craven.
He suffered the symptoms of what he feared might be a heart attack and drove himself to the emergency room at the local hospital. It was stress.
He spent $400 on energy drinks and another couple of hundred on pizza and McDonald's $1 cheeseburgers. He filmed the segments at home with a camera on a tripod and his Mac.
"He was definitely following his passion," says his wife, a former primary school teacher who quit to stay at home with the kids. "He is the world's most doting father and loves being with his kids more than anything in the world. He did it so that their world would be a better place, and I understood that."
Craven applied his considerable teaching ability to the project, drawing viewers in with a frank and charmingly mild-mannered delivery. "What if I told you I think I've found an argument that makes that whole bitter question of whether it's really happening or not, moot," he asks, peering into the camera.
He was inspired in part, by one of his online heroes – a Brooklyn blogger called Ze Frank, who started a Web sensation in 2001 by sending a party invitation featuring a series of hilarious dance moves to 17 friends. After it went viral, Frank quit his day job to build up his Web site and spent a year doing a daily three-minute show that drew 10,000 viewers a day.
Craven says an agent has contacted him to discuss a possible book. But he doesn't want to spend any more time developing projects for the Web – he says it's time for him to turn his attention back to his wife and children. He hopes others will pick up where he has left off.
"We need as many information warriors out there as we can get."

The drive for clean energy sparks a B.C. gold rush

Long before Al Gore and the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change collected this year's Nobel Peace Prize, venture capitalists set their sights on a different prize: the massive profits going to oil firms. With the Arctic icecap melting before our eyes, their day is coming sooner than expected, as the clean-energy sector just keeps growing hotter with global warming. It helps that BP's global research shows only one barrel of oil is discovered for every nine we consume. No longer just an issue pushed by environmentalists, clean energy is becoming a money-making business.
World investment in this sector soared almost 400 percent between 2004 and 2006. Last year, 18 percent of energy investment–more than US$100 billion–went to renewable sources such as wind and solar. Professional-services firm Ernst & Young predicts that favourable government policies and high oil prices will drive yearly renewable-energy investment to US$750 billion by 2016.
Suddenly, this once-struggling "alternative" sector is tapping profits. Since 2002, clean-energy stocks have beaten the MSCI World Index by 64 percent. Small investors eager to "green" their portfolios are seeing good returns from North America's small but growing selection of clean-energy funds, which sometimes score well above the S&P 500 index.
When forecasts for investment in oil alternatives are closing in on a trillion dollars, something big is happening. And it's happening here in Vancouver.
In their 2007 book, The Clean Tech Revolution: The Next Big Growth and Investment Opportunity, U.S. authors Clint Wilder and Ron Pernick list Vancouver among the world's top 10 Silicon Valleys for clean energy. They credit fuel-cell pioneer Ballard Power Systems with sparking a wave of related technology startups around Vancouver. They also cite local academic research, venture capital, and a quality of life that attracts talent. The other cities in their top 10 were Copenhagen, Shanghai, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Portland, Hyderabad (India), Austin (Texas), and Freiburg (Germany).
But Vancouver's clean-energy sector isn't limited to fuel cells. Energy efficiency and "bridging" helped Greater Vancouver companies dominate the Deloitte Technology Green 15 this fall, where innovation must be commercially viable. Seven out of the 15 Canadian awards went to companies such as West Vancouver's Sempa Power Systems Ltd., whose hybrid heating system lets you switch energy sources, and Burnaby's Xantrex Technology Inc., whose products feed wind, solar, and other renewable energies into power grids or a portable "powerhub".
Philippe de Weck, the Geneva-based manager of Canada's first clean-energy fund, speculates that Vancouver has "the combination of environmental awareness and innovative tradition [that] led to California being a hot spot for clean-tech". The Criterion Global Clean Energy Fund launched this fall, and its holdings range from Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems to two Vancouver firms that also made this year's Deloitte Green 15.
One is Westport Innovations Inc., a world leader in converting engines to use cleaner fuels such as natural gas, hydrogen, and biofuels, including landfill gasses. Westport owns half of Vancouver-based Cummins Westport Inc.–whose 300 employees produce the world's cleanest natural-gas truck and bus engines–and five percent of Clean Energy Fuels Corp., North America's largest supplier of natural gas for vehicles. Last year, Deloitte named it North America's second-fastest-growing tech company.
De Weck's other local buy was Plutonic Power Corp., a run-of-river hydroelectric developer planning a "green-power corridor" in the south coast's Toba Inlet area. In October, the groundbreaking for Plutonic's initial $660-million East Toba and Montrose Project won ceremonial blessings from three local First Nations: the Klahoose, Sechelt, and Sliammon.
Government policies driving clean-energy investment can have rapid effects. Beijing's pre-Olympics push for cleaner air gave a huge boost to Cummins Westport: the sale of 3,000 liquefied-natural-gas–fuelled buses. The European Union's target of generating 20 percent of electricity from renewables by 2020 is transforming whole economies. Denmark and Spain are almost there already. Germany, now at 12 percent, is switching so fast it runs more wind, solar, and biogas systems than any other country, and its "eco-sector" provides 250,000 jobs.
That kind of job and wealth creation encouraged California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to sign a deal in August 2006 with his Democrat-controlled legislature. The Global Warming Solutions Act requires California to cut greenhouse-gas emissions back to 1990 levels by 2020.
Three months after the act was passed, the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach said they would convert from dirty diesel by buying 5,000 cleaner and cheaper-running Cummins Westport LNG trucks. The Vancouver firm is now preparing its first 150 trucks–for $22 million.
So there must be cheers in Vancouver's clean-energy boardrooms now that British Columbia will be jumping on California's bandwagon. After years of environmental cutbacks, Premier Gordon Campbell told the Union of B.C. Municipalities this fall to expect imminent legislation cutting B.C.'s greenhouse-gas emissions to 33 percent below current levels by 2020. B.C. will adopt California's tailpipe-emission and low-carbon-fuel standards and mandate that all government operations, including schools, be carbon-neutral by 2010.
Although Campbell's plan may rely on some carbon-trading–in which polluters buy business-as-usual credits–California's legislation boosted clean-energy investment, so expect that here. And continued "hydrogen highway" buzz from Campbell and Schwarzenegger may pump up Vancouver's fuel-cell companies, including Ballard Power.
Of course, the dot-com boom of the '90s proved that even when a sector takes off as predicted, small investors can get burned. And going green can be complicated. Both Vancouver companies in de Weck's new fund illustrate key issues facing would-be green investors.
With Plutonic, it's the tradeoff required with energy transitions. Plutonic founder and CEO Donald McInnes seems taken aback by criticism of run-of-river hydroelectricity, including that contained in recent articles in the Georgia Straight. Instead of flooding habitat, he said, the diverted water is soon returned to the river "without heating or cooling or adding chemicals or anything; we're just borrowing it". Old logging roads are reused, he said, power-plant footprints are small, and water is tapped above steep waterfalls so no fish are harmed in the projects.
"Fear-mongering" is McInnes's answer to reports that B.C.'s run-of-river projects lack oversight. "There are 18 different federal, provincial, regional, and local government agencies you must engage with." Approval for East Toba and Montrose, he said, took three years of wildlife surveys, a 700-page application focused on environmental risks, seven public meetings, and 77 conditions on their application to build.
Asked if public rivers are being stolen, McInnes said licences are time-limited and water isn't free. "About 15 percent of revenue, straight off the top, goes right back to government for property, school, and water taxes." Additional contracts with First Nations are confidential, but the industry typically pays a "one- to two-percent gross-revenue royalty". Local jobs and training are also in the mix.
"We don't want a [Sumas-type] gas plant," McInnes said, "We're not having coal plants, not having nuclear. That leaves large-scale hydro dams or renewables; we have to settle on something. Right now, we're importing 15 percent of our electricity, and most of that's coming from coal plants in Alberta."
"Another thing," he added heatedly. "Some people are calling this a gold rush, which is absolute horse shit." Plutonic's Rainy River application near Howe Sound, he said, shows how some of the current 500-odd water-licence applications will fall by the wayside. After spending $3.15 million on preliminary planning, Plutonic pulled out this summer because fish showed up in the project area. "If we can't build something with minimal impacts on the land, then we're just not going to," he said.
According to McInnes, some projects will die, even after approval. "These guys," he said of critics, "would have you believe there's going to be 500 power plants built next week…It's nonsense. There's 16,000 mining claims existing in this province. How many mines do we have? Twelve?"
Powell River Mayor Stewart Alsgard praises Plutonic for "doing all the right things" with local stakeholders.
The habitat impacts of hydro power, de Weck noted, are a "complex issue" needing public debate. Climate change, he said, will shift our focus "from local pollution to global pollution", with inevitable tradeoffs.
"We see similar debates on wind power with respect to its impact on birds. Even solar power has detractors on grounds of altering landscapes…Our current lifestyle consumes a tremendous amount of power. While the best measure is to become more energy-efficient–a key area of investment for our fund–we can't eliminate energy demand. Choices have to be made."
Westport's case illustrates another big issue for green investors: waiting for research losses to become profits. Formed to market University of B.C.–developed pollution-cutting technology, Westport's early years were dogged by research-and-development losses and roller-coaster stock prices. Analysts lumped it in with the underperforming fuel-cell sector. Governance issues arose–all since settled, according to Jonathan Burke, Westport's vice president for corporate development. De Weck said Westport was "a terrible stock over the years–a very poor performer for shareholders".
So what's changed? "Right now, it's a hot sector," Burke said, "but a few years ago, it was really cold." He laughed. "Frigid." It was more than that, de Weck said: "In the past, its product offering wasn't ready for commercialization. Essentially, they were ahead of their time."
Big orders like the Beijing and California port deals showed that the market was finally catching up.
But profits take time. Burke says R&D cost $21 million last year–against record revenues of $60 million. "We have to maintain our global-leadership position," he said. "We don't intend to slow down; that's what's given us the credibility we have in the international marketplace."
That credibility is key to Westport's growth. Industry recognition includes this year's Blue Sky Merit Award for consistently beating emissions standards (they already meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards for 2010). The result? Partnerships and joint projects from Switzerland to China, including current work with BMW and Ford on hydrogen-fuelled internal-combustion engines.
Although "much of the work being done in Vancouver involves technology", de Weck expects hydroelectric power to be big here as well, given B.C.'s "tremendous resources in this field". Looking east, he sees "much more capital being invested in wind energy in Ontario and Quebec".
But which technologies will win the race to dislodge fossil fuels? De Weck gives solar the edge, because its costs are falling the fastest. But this race, he said, requires multiple approaches, from energy efficiency and renewables to the low-carbon transitional fuels Westport works with.
And that's a big opportunity for Vancouver's fledgling clean-energy industry.

Three months after the act was passed, the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach said they would convert from dirty diesel by buying 5,000 cleaner and cheaper-running Cummins Westport LNG trucks. The Vancouver firm is now preparing its first 150 trucks–for $22 million.
So there must be cheers in Vancouver's clean-energy boardrooms now that British Columbia will be jumping on California's bandwagon. After years of environmental cutbacks, Premier Gordon Campbell told the Union of B.C. Municipalities this fall to expect imminent legislation cutting B.C.'s greenhouse-gas emissions to 33 percent below current levels by 2020. B.C. will adopt California's tailpipe-emission and low-carbon-fuel standards and mandate that all government operations, including schools, be carbon-neutral by 2010.
Although Campbell's plan may rely on some carbon-trading–in which polluters buy business-as-usual credits–California's legislation boosted clean-energy investment, so expect that here. And continued "hydrogen highway" buzz from Campbell and Schwarzenegger may pump up Vancouver's fuel-cell companies, including Ballard Power.
Of course, the dot-com boom of the '90s proved that even when a sector takes off as predicted, small investors can get burned. And going green can be complicated. Both Vancouver companies in de Weck's new fund illustrate key issues facing would-be green investors.
With Plutonic, it's the tradeoff required with energy transitions. Plutonic founder and CEO Donald McInnes seems taken aback by criticism of run-of-river hydroelectricity, including that contained in recent articles in the Georgia Straight. Instead of flooding habitat, he said, the diverted water is soon returned to the river "without heating or cooling or adding chemicals or anything; we're just borrowing it". Old logging roads are reused, he said, power-plant footprints are small, and water is tapped above steep waterfalls so no fish are harmed in the projects.
"Fear-mongering" is McInnes's answer to reports that B.C.'s run-of-river projects lack oversight. "There are 18 different federal, provincial, regional, and local government agencies you must engage with." Approval for East Toba and Montrose, he said, took three years of wildlife surveys, a 700-page application focused on environmental risks, seven public meetings, and 77 conditions on their application to build.
Asked if public rivers are being stolen, McInnes said licences are time-limited and water isn't free. "About 15 percent of revenue, straight off the top, goes right back to government for property, school, and water taxes." Additional contracts with First Nations are confidential, but the industry typically pays a "one- to two-percent gross-revenue royalty". Local jobs and training are also in the mix.
"We don't want a [Sumas-type] gas plant," McInnes said, "We're not having coal plants, not having nuclear. That leaves large-scale hydro dams or renewables; we have to settle on something. Right now, we're importing 15 percent of our electricity, and most of that's coming from coal plants in Alberta."
"Another thing," he added heatedly. "Some people are calling this a gold rush, which is absolute horse shit." Plutonic's Rainy River application near Howe Sound, he said, shows how some of the current 500-odd water-licence applications will fall by the wayside. After spending $3.15 million on preliminary planning, Plutonic pulled out this summer because fish showed up in the project area. "If we can't build something with minimal impacts on the land, then we're just not going to," he said.
According to McInnes, some projects will die, even after approval. "These guys," he said of critics, "would have you believe there's going to be 500 power plants built next week…It's nonsense. There's 16,000 mining claims existing in this province. How many mines do we have? Twelve?"
Powell River Mayor Stewart Alsgard praises Plutonic for "doing all the right things" with local stakeholders.
The habitat impacts of hydro power, de Weck noted, are a "complex issue" needing public debate. Climate change, he said, will shift our focus "from local pollution to global pollution", with inevitable tradeoffs.
"We see similar debates on wind power with respect to its impact on birds. Even solar power has detractors on grounds of altering landscapes…Our current lifestyle consumes a tremendous amount of power. While the best measure is to become more energy-efficient–a key area of investment for our fund–we can't eliminate energy demand. Choices have to be made."
Westport's case illustrates another big issue for green investors: waiting for research losses to become profits. Formed to market University of B.C.–developed pollution-cutting technology, Westport's early years were dogged by research-and-development losses and roller-coaster stock prices. Analysts lumped it in with the underperforming fuel-cell sector. Governance issues arose–all since settled, according to Jonathan Burke, Westport's vice president for corporate development. De Weck said Westport was "a terrible stock over the years–a very poor performer for shareholders".
So what's changed? "Right now, it's a hot sector," Burke said, "but a few years ago, it was really cold." He laughed. "Frigid." It was more than that, de Weck said: "In the past, its product offering wasn't ready for commercialization. Essentially, they were ahead of their time."
Big orders like the Beijing and California port deals showed that the market was finally catching up.
But profits take time. Burke says R&D cost $21 million last year–against record revenues of $60 million. "We have to maintain our global-leadership position," he said. "We don't intend to slow down; that's what's given us the credibility we have in the international marketplace."
That credibility is key to Westport's growth. Industry recognition includes this year's Blue Sky Merit Award for consistently beating emissions standards (they already meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards for 2010). The result? Partnerships and joint projects from Switzerland to China, including current work with BMW and Ford on hydrogen-fuelled internal-combustion engines.
Although "much of the work being done in Vancouver involves technology", de Weck expects hydroelectric power to be big here as well, given B.C.'s "tremendous resources in this field". Looking east, he sees "much more capital being invested in wind energy in Ontario and Quebec".
But which technologies will win the race to dislodge fossil fuels? De Weck gives solar the edge, because its costs are falling the fastest. But this race, he said, requires multiple approaches, from energy efficiency and renewables to the low-carbon transitional fuels Westport works with.
And that's a big opportunity for Vancouver's fledgling clean-energy industry.

KOLKATA: An eight-member team from South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore and officials from Kolkata-based Synergy Renewable Energy (SREPL) on Friday met West Bengal’s chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and formalised an agreement to set up a $400-million joint venture project to manufacture solar wafer at Durgapur in West Bengal.
Solar wafers are used to manufacture solar panels and modules which go into generating electricity from sunlight. Under the agreement, a company christened Kits Solar, will be incorporated and registered in Kolkata with an authorised share capital of Rs 200 crore. It will be an 100% export-oriented unit.
The West Bengal government has decided to pick up 10% equity through the West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency in the project, which will become operational in the next one year.
SREPL will hold 30% while South Korea’s Komex along with its associates from Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea will hold the remaining 60% stake in the company. The Komex-led consortium members include Green Energy Technology of Taiwan, Glosil of South Korea, Smart Applications of South Korea, S&T Solar Pte of Singapore, Rectec International and Motech of Taiwan.
This will be the first wafer manufacturing facility in India and will also mark the entry of Korean and Taiwanese majors in the field of solar energy in India.
